And Now, I'm Two!

Soon, I'll be traveling to Missouri to spend a few days with my oldest daughter and her family.  While there, I'll have the utmost pleasure of, among many other things, celebrating the second birthday of my youngest grandchild, Ethan.  He's the sweetest, happiest little boy, who loves cars, trucks, trains, cows, jumping into mud puddles, his brothers, and most recently, big boats.

Ethan's mom, Kelli, was born during the 4:00 hour on 5/6/78, and Ethan, during the 9:00 hour on 10/11/12.  Together, they have been a continuous source of joy to our families.

While my visit next week with Ethan, and his family, will be short in time, I'm trusting it will be long in memories.  From the airport, we'll head to his preschool where I hope to surprise him with an early afternoon "rescue."  We'll take a moment as we leave his classroom to say good-bye to Pippi, the cutest little hedgehog, and then we'll head to the grocery store.  By the time everyone else arrives home that evening, we will hopefully have made dinner and a dump cake for dessert.  Thursday will be our day, together, and time to enjoy the  three "P's" --  playing, picnicking, and pumpkin painting.   Add a couple walks to find the cows, a ride on the tractor, a quick rest and before we know it, we'll be watching the sunset from a favorite viewpoint.  Friday, more family members will be home and if my suspicions are correct, our day will include floating in a boat on a large body of water.  Saturday will be the day to celebrate Ethan's birthday.

My visits to Kelli and her clan are always filled happily to the brim with family, activities, projects, games, outings, meals to prepare and evenings to relax, but at the end of this visit, when it's time to leave for home, I'm hoping a little, two year old boy will be overflowing with memories of time spent walking and talking, reading, coloring, jumping together into mud puddles, and looking for creepy-crawly things in the tall grass with his grandma Chris--memories, he and I will share for a very long time.

Happy birthday my grandson,  Ethan Cooper ...    I love you dearly...

"Let's look for dragons," I said to Pooh.
"Yes, let's," said Pooh to Me.
We crossed the river and found a few--
"Yes, those are dragons all right," said Pooh.
"As soon as I saw their beaks I knew.
That's what they are," said Pooh, said he.
"That's what they are," said Pooh.

"Let's frighten the dragons," I said to Pooh.
"That's right," said Pooh to Me.
"I'm not afraid," I said to Pooh,
And I held his paw and I shouted "Shoo!
Silly old dragons!" -- and off they flew.

"I wasn't afraid," said Pooh, said he,
"I'm never afraid with you."
